Cogito, Ergo Sum

I think, therefor I am

Cogito, Ergo Sum (I think, therefore I Am) is a popular dictum coined by French philosopher Rene' Descartes in 1637.

If one were to contemplate it closely - the first part "I think". Pretty logical that there has to be an "I" to "Think". Thoughts appear because you exist.

So The "I " has to be earlier (or subtler). This "I" principle, also called "I Am", "Consciousness" or "Awareness" is at the core. The Knowledge of the "I " and Being "I " is the same. Because if there was something to know the "I" - then it has to be earlier than the "I". Confused? Relax!. Contemplate it till it becomes clear :).
