Guru's Grace - Sri M

It’s magical how the dots connect, obviously in hindsight! I was introduced to Sri M by my sister-in-law Roshni’s dad, Mr. Rajkumar (uncle). We used to have these casual chats on many topics, including spirituality, and on this occasion he spoke about a book - Apprenticed to a Himalayan Master - Autobiography of a Yogi, written by Sri M. Thanks to Kindle, I purchased this book right there and finished it pretty much in one sitting.

It was literally “mind blowing”. The book revolves around Sri M's life story in the Himalayas with his Guru Sri Maheshwarnathji and Sri Babaji. Like the Autobiography of a Yogi - the book exposed me to this fascinating fact that self-realization is a real possibility - albeit something not for mere mortals like me. Having grown up in the Hindu culture, we were exposed to stories of Gods and Gurus since childhood and when one gets to read about a person who is a living master - it was like as if these stories were true, not just folklore & myth.

I continued following Sri M, through YouTube videos and more books. An interesting aspect of Sri M's life story was that as part of his journey he visited quite a lot of places across India, meeting spiritual masters. His narrative of these encounters connected deeply with me as I had visited quite a few of these places, though my visits here were not as "exciting" as his. These included Shirdi & Alandi in Maharashtra and Sri Nithyananda Ashram in Kerala, to name a few.

With divine grace, I had the good fortune of being in his holy presence. In Jan 2017, me & Manju, along with a group of friends from Bangalore visited his ashram at Madanapalle. Sri M would meet all visitors for a Satsang under the Peepul tree. After the Satsang, all visitors would have a brief Darshan. I recall asking him if he can use his laser eyes and see if “I” had it in me :), he just laughed it off.

Every Guru's expression is different. For me, Sri M is a person with profound knowledge of the Vedas and the Upanishads and has written many books about these. Seekers who are attracted to and interested in these will connect with him easily. He also imparts the knowledge & practice of Kriya Yoga to seekers.

Like they say, Gurus work in mysterious ways. I do feel indebted to Sri M for his blessings and grace.
